"VR! I was hired by Moving Picture Company (MPC), followed by Digital Domain (DD). I served as the manager of the VIRTUAL ART DEPARTMENT and we created over 40 virtual sets.
This was one that tested my artistic ability. This project was using UNITY (game engine) and Maya on set. To help with immersion our game environments were created in a game engine using Virtual Reality headsets. The director could jump into digital environments, or just look at them on the screen. I ran the Maya sessions in our meetings. Jon Favrou wanted to be able to look at the environment he was in, although, he was shooting in front of a green screen. We used Oculus and Morpheus VR to accomplish such tasks. My main duties were first and foremost Quality Control (that they matched the concept as close as possible), and Optimization (That they run at proper speed, which was 60 - 90 frames a second) .
